Maybe it’s semantics…

… but when I have to I’m going to start using the phrase social media instead of Web 2.0.

Based on my experiences, I think the use of Web 2.0 is just too confusing and too many people get caught up in tools. I think that social media does a better job of getting at the social nature of learning and the new means in which anyone can create, publish, and participate.

Yeah – I say “read/write web” – but social media is good.
While it is hard not to use Web 2.0, it is something that I’ve tried to avoid though I don’t really have an answer as to why other than I’m not particularly fond of the connotations. I personally prefer participatory media.
Well you are in good company: The ‘in plain english’ people are going with Social Media too.
