Turtle Art

LEARNING & CREATION OF DIGITAL ART

What is Turtle Art?
Turtle Art is software for creating digital art. Users design through connecting blocks of programming code together in sets of instructions for a turtle to carry out. Turtle Art is designed with a “low floor” and a “high ceiling” meaning it can be tinkered with by very young learners and used to design sophisticated digital art for more experienced users.

Why use Turtle Art?
Edutainment software, that which coerces kids into “learning”, is based on simple ideas and low level thinking.  Turtle Art offers an alternative to this and provides an open-ended canvas where the students imagination is the limit.  Using the drag & drop (block) programming learners can easily learn to program the turtle to operate as they see fit. Learning to program helps students to learn how to learn.
